A Welcome from the Headteacher

As Headteacher of Oakdene Primary School I am delighted to welcome you to our website. I hope that you find all the information that you are looking for and that many of your questions can be answered.

Our mission statement for Oakdene is ‘Growing and Learning Together’ which we aim to achieve for every member of our School Community. We believe that a successful partnership between Parents, children and our School leads to a happy environment for everyone to flourish in.

At Oakdene Primary School we endeavour to provide all our pupils with an education which enables them to reach THEIR full potential. We provide an atmosphere in which our children feel secure and valued, with each child treated as an individual and encouraged to develop his or her own special talents. In November 2012 our Ofsted Inspection resulted in Oakdene being graded as outstanding in all areas of School life. We are justifiably proud of this achievement which shows that everyone associated with Oakdene always works very hard for the benefit of all pupils at the School.

We have very high standards of behaviour and manners in School and in November 2012 Ofsted Inspectors reported that ‘Pupils are extremely polite and well behaved and treat others with great respect. They are eager to learn and participate enthusiastically in lessons’ (Ofsted 2012).

We hope to instil in our children a set of values that will help them as they grow into adults. Our values are based around the themes of responsibility, friendship, respect, honesty, determination and excellence which encompass many aspects of school, home and work life. We work with Parents to ensure that our children can show these values at all times.

At Oakdene, we have a highly committed and professional staff who all work hard to ensure that the high standards at Oakdene are continuously maintained, whilst delivering stimulating and engaging lessons throughout the curriculum. Ofsted Inspectors saw that ‘Lessons are exceptionally well planned and provide interesting and challenging tasks which enable learning to move at a fast pace’ (Ofsted 2012). We follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum in Reception and a skills based curriculum from Y1 to Y6 where the children are given the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have learnt in different situations.

We hope your child is happy at Oakdene and please contact school if you need any further information via email oakdene@sthelens.org.uk or by telephone 01744 678410.
