Year 2

Home Learning for Year 2  (week beginning Monday 1st June ) is now live.

The White Rose Maths activity sheets are now on here too. The videos for each lesson can still be found on their website. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/

There are 2 weekly pdf files – one is a suggested timetable for the week’s activities, and the second contains the tasks themselves and any further information required to complete them.

These 2 weekly files will always appear at the top of the home learning page for each class.

Each day there will be 3 tasks set – an English task, a Maths task, and a task from another curriculum area, which we will rotate so that children get activities across the whole curriculum. We also recommend that children do some Reading every day, and some kind of physical activity.

Any work completed should be uploaded to Seesaw, where staff can look at it and respond to the children. Please only upload work we have set in our home learning packs. Also, remember that any Word or PowerPoint files have to be changed to pdf files to upload to Seesaw (see previous letter on the main Home Learning page).

Some of the English work set comes from The Literacy Company, and some of the Maths from White Rose Maths. These are educational providers whose resources we use in school. Activities in other curriculum areas will be based around what we teach at Oakdene in that subject for that particular year group.

Children also have access to Sumdog, TT Rockstars and Linguascope.

However, if you wish your children to complete any additional work, there are lots of educational providers offering further online lessons and resources.

BBC Bitesize – https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize - From April 20th, they are offering daily uploads of core subject lessons and information. Some of their Maths tasks are from White Rose Maths, which we are using in our Oakdene packs already.

Classroom Secrets – https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/free-home-learning-packs/ - Each week they are providing free home learning packs and timetables. Some of the reading tasks used in our Oakdene home learning packs are from this provider, and some of their material will be used in the BBC Bitesize package.

Hamilton Trust – https://www.hamilton-trust.org.uk/blog/learning-home-packs/ - Reputable educational provider again providing free home learning packs on the core subjects of English and Maths.

Children can also access PhonicsPlay at this time.
