Designated Safeguarding Lead 


The Children’s Act (2004) states that every organisation must have a “named person” for safeguarding. Keeping Children Safe in Education (2024), states that the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) must be an ‘appropriate senior member of staff, from the school or college leadership team’ (p.28). Here at Oakdene Primary School we have a named DSL and named Deputy DSLs. Both the DSL and the Deputy DSLs are members of the Senior Leadership Team and have a variety of roles and responsibilities related to safeguarding which are listed below.
