School Council

Here at Oakdene we run a successful School Council. Elections are held to find council representatives with two children elected from Year 1 through to 6. These children are responsible for canvassing the views of all children in the school about various issues and bringing these ideas and views for discussion at fortnightly meetings.

Children in classes are encouraged to discuss their ideas and views on a regular basis about all aspects of school life and the councillors also report back from council meetings.

The School Council has been responsible for various improvements to school life. These include: new playground markings, raising of enough funds to purchase new playtime equipment and discussing how different curriculum areas can be improved.
