House Teams

Our OPA House Teams

At Oakdene Primary Academy, we are proud to have a strong sense of belonging and community, which is brought to life through our four house teams. From the moment children join our school, they are placed into one of these teams, each named after a patron saint of Great Britain. This creates an immediate sense of identity and connection that stays with them throughout their time with us.

Our house system plays a key role in nurturing teamwork, pride and a shared commitment to our school values. Children work together each week to earn points for their team by collecting Dojo points. These are awarded for consistently demonstrating our school values and living out our 3Rs – being Ready, Respectful, Resilient and Safe.

Throughout each half-term, excitement builds as points are carefully collected and totalled. At the end of each term, the winning house is celebrated and rewarded with a non-uniform day, giving pupils a real sense of achievement and shared success.

Our house teams also come together beyond the classroom. They take part in Sports Days and a range of whole-school events across the year, providing opportunities for pupils to collaborate, compete and support one another. These moments help to strengthen friendships across year groups and develop a true team spirit.

To further develop leadership, each house has appointed team captains and sports captains. These pupils take on important roles in motivating their teams, leading by example, and supporting events and competitions throughout the year.

Overall, our house system helps to create a vibrant, inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels part of something bigger—encouraging them to strive, succeed and shine together.
