No Outsiders

No Outsiders at Oakdene Primary Academy

At Oakdene Primary Academy, ‘No Outsiders’ is a golden thread that runs throughout our curriculum. It ensures that learning extends beyond our immediate local context, reflecting the diverse and modern world in which our children are growing up. Through this approach, we are committed to being as inclusive as possible, embedding equality, diversity and belonging across all aspects of school life.

At Oakdene, we actively teach children to recognise, understand and respect difference. We believe we have a duty to prepare our pupils for life in modern Britain, where they will live and work alongside people of different race, religion, gender, age, disability and sexual orientation. It is essential that our children develop the confidence, empathy and understanding to accept others, appreciate different viewpoints and treat everyone with dignity and respect.

We expect all children to express their views with kindness and consideration, even when opinions differ. Through carefully planned curriculum opportunities, assemblies and the No Outsiders programme, pupils learn that diversity strengthens our community and that respectful disagreement is an important part of life in a democratic society.

Our message is clear and consistent:

We are all equal, we all belong, and there are no outsiders at Oakdene.

This message is central to our school community and is reinforced through the No Outsiders programme, which supports children and staff in developing a deep understanding of equality and inclusion. It reflects our wider commitment to creating a safe, welcoming and respectful environment where every individual feels valued and able to thrive.

At Oakdene, we celebrate that we are all unique. We embrace our differences and ensure that every child and every adult knows that they are welcome, respected and an important part of our school family.
