Plants, by Mr Byrne

Date: 23rd Feb 2018 @ 3:01pm

Last half term, we learnt all about the different parts of a plant. We had to use our buckets to collect different objects which we could use to make our own plant. We had so much fun and LOVE our outdoor learning (especially when it's cold)!!

Jam Sandwich Algorithms, by Mr Byrne

Date: 17th Jan 2018 @ 9:04pm

We had lots of fun this afternoon reminding Mr Byrne how to make a jam sandwich because he has forgotten. We think he enjoyed some of them, but not them all!

Well done to Thomas and Joe who helped Mr Byrne make the perfect sandwich.

The children in Year 3 have had lots of fun learning Maths outside this half term.

The children have represented three digit numbers using things that they could find on our school field. They have also practised their times tables by playing games outside.

European Day of Languages, by Mrs Hamlin

Date: 29th Sep 2016 @ 11:40am

To celebrate European Day of Languages we conducted a carousel of activities which included learning some traditional French playground games and rhymes, creating our own langauge themed board games, looking at flags from around the world and learning some German.

Year 3 visit the synagogue, by Mrs Garton-Pope

Date: 19th May 2016 @ 1:29pm

Today we have visited the Jewish museum in Manchester. It used to be a synagogue but is now a museum for everyone to visit. It was built in 1874 and has lots of beautiful features.

The Rabbi explained lots of different artefacts to us. We then had a pretend Bar Mitzvah ceremony which boys usually have when they turn 13 years old. We didn't have any 13 year old boys with us so used the oldest boy in the class instead!

Forces WOW day, by Mr Mullan

Date: 11th Feb 2016 @ 6:01pm

On Monday 8th of February we were lucky to have Mr. B come in to tell us all about forces. As luck would have it, Mr. B also knew lots about the Rainhill trials and the Stevenson's rocket specifically. He brought a real life model in that worked with air pressure and he was able to show us the different forces used in the engine.

We then moved onto making paper rockets and paper airplanes and then finished the day by making rocket cars. This brought all the forces together. Mr. B taught us loads of new information that will help us study our forces topic over the next few weeks. Everybody in class learned something new and had fun doing it which was great.

I would like to thank the class again for their fantastic behaviour and contribution to the day, and I am certain there are some budding engineers among the class from the excellent rocket and car designs.

Trip to Rainhill Library and train station., by Mr Mullan

Date: 2nd Feb 2016 @ 2:54pm

This week we went to the library to meet with Barrie and Chris to talk about why Rainhill is so famous. We learned a huge amount about the trials and will be able to do loads of work over the next few weeks. Thanks to the mums who walked down to the school with us. Thanks also to Barrie and Chris who were able to give us all the information we need to complete the topic.
